Delete The Posts Or Die ; As Kidnappers Cite Amnesty Administrator, Dennis Otuaro In Violent Attack On Cletus Kwalekeme

Cletus Kwalekeme, a key figure in the historic Kaiama Declaration, is fighting for his life and demanding justice following a terrifying sequence of police detention, armed abduction, and forced poisoning, all stemming from his exposure of massive financial corruption within Nigeria’s Presidential Amnesty Programme.

The troubles began after Kwalekeme publicly accused the programme’s administrator, Dennis Otuaro, of overseeing the systemic diversion of billions of naira meant for ex-militants.

According to Kwalekeme, nearly 80 percent of former combatants have been left completely unpaid for over three years. In response to these claims, Otuaro filed a petition with the Zone 5 Police Headquarters in Benin City, prompting law enforcement to detain Kwalekeme on charges of character defamation and cyberbullying.

During interrogation, Kwalekeme refused to delete his investigative posts, presenting officers with certified bank records and witness testimonies to back up his allegations.

The documents reportedly show how monthly stipends meant for ex-militants were systematically converted into foreign currency for personal gain.

After seeing the evidence, police offered to drop the matter if he scrubbed the allegations from the internet. Kwalekeme rejected the informal deal, insisting on standard legal procedures, and was eventually released on bail signed by his uncle.

What followed was a horrific escalation. On July 17, 2026, while traveling between Ughelli and Warri, Kwalekeme was intercepted by armed gunmen, dragged from his vehicle, and beaten.

At gunpoint, his attackers forced him to ingest a toxic chemical substance, explicitly stating the assault was punishment for refusing to obey the police directive to silence his reporting on Otuaro.

The violent attack fulfilled a hit threat previously circulated in a public video, where individuals linked to the amnesty leadership openly called for Kwalekeme’s execution.

Despite his injuries and the ingested toxin, Kwalekeme managed a miraculous escape. He reached the 'A' Division Police Station in Ughelli, where officers facilitated his immediate transfer to the Ughelli General Hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Now backed by official hospital reports detailing his poisoning and physical trauma, the veteran activist is raising the alarm over what he describes as a coordinated, deadly campaign involving police collusion and high-ranking officials to silence whistleblowers and cover up multi-billion naira fraud.
